What happened to House Bill 24?

Ohio's 131st General Assembly Session came to a close at the end of last year without passing HB 24, the Ohio Elder Justice Act.  Stakeholders had concerns about the final language and the fact that no additional funding accompanied the bill.  As a result, the bill died.

We are now in the third month of a new two year session, with a change in some legislative seats. The primary sponsor of HB 24, Representative Dovilla,  is no longer in the General Assembly. However,  the Act's co-sponsor, Rep. Wes Retherford, recently introduced a bill that mirrors HB 24.

House Bill 78 was introduced last week, and was assigned to the new House Aging and Long Term Care Committee.  OCAPS' Public Policy Committee will be reviewing the bill and preparing for testimony in the coming weeks.
