The Ohio House has filled out the ranks of the first of its subject matter task forces with a series of appointments to the Task Force on Alzheimer's and Dementia. Rep. Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville), who chairs the task force, announced the appointments late Thursday. They include Rep. Sarah LaTourette (R-Chagrin Falls), Rep. Gary Scherer (R-Circleville), Rep. Jonathan Dever (R-Cincinnati), Rep. Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus) and Rep. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati).
The task force will meet twice a month from August through October "to discuss possible legislation and create a statewide care plan" to tackle these topics, according to Rep. Pelanda. "Alzheimer's and dementia affects so many of our fellow Ohioans and their families," Rep. Pelanda said. "I applaud the speaker for convening this important task force and look forward to working alongside my colleagues and others beginning in August."
She described the group's goals in her announcement as spreading awareness, fostering collaboration between counties and the state, and increasing the availability of respite care and resources.
